Hello?

Would it be possible in a future version of Akkar to extract a copy of all the information in the database so that you could store and access it locally on your hard drive? I mean, It's not like we always have a dependable connection to the internet at the place where the larp will be (especially at fantasy events  wink ) and i think it would be a nice feature to be able to access the system there on a laptop or something.

Maybe it could also be possible to make a system for checking in/out the participants so we know whether och not we'll have to gather some people and search the whole forest if we suspect someone might have got lost in the wilderness?

PS. Oh, and by the way, the software is great! It's really saved us a lot of work during our current larp. Thank's a lot! DS.

Since all data is stored in a relational database, having a local copy is not possible unless you also have a webserver and a MySQL database server running on your local machine. Doing so is possible, however, in which case you can simply take a backup of AKKAR, and install a new copy of AKKAR on your local computer and restore the database from the backup-file there.

There's no way to automatically synchronise changes though, so doing it this way could create problems with lost data if you copy everything back to the online copy from your local copy (all changes done on the online copy in the mean time will then disappear).

Checking people in and out is so far not implemented other than that you can print a copy of the participant list and mark them off on a sheet of paper.

And thanks for letting me know you like the software - hopefully I can repay you by getting back to work on it again soon. It's been a while since I had the time to do anything with it. The way things are looking now I may be forced to re-visit the development as we're about to start planning a new LARP ourselves, which will be the first time in 3 years. Planning a new LARP has always sent me on a coding-spree before, so chances are it'll happen this time too Smiley

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

So you thought this thread was dead? You've never been more wrong! grin Actually, this is just to let everyone know that we intend to include an "offline" or "batch" mode in AKKAR 3, right from the start. The way this is intended to work, you extract a copy of your database at some point, and then any changes you have done will be merged whenever you choose after coming online again.
