Since all data is stored in a relational database, having a local copy is not possible unless you also have a webserver and a MySQL database server running on your local machine. Doing so is possible, however, in which case you can simply take a backup of AKKAR, and install a new copy of AKKAR on your local computer and restore the database from the backup-file there.
There's no way to automatically synchronise changes though, so doing it this way could create problems with lost data if you copy everything back to the online copy from your local copy (all changes done on the online copy in the mean time will then disappear).
Checking people in and out is so far not implemented other than that you can print a copy of the participant list and mark them off on a sheet of paper.
And thanks for letting me know you like the software - hopefully I can repay you by getting back to work on it again soon. It's been a while since I had the time to do anything with it. The way things are looking now I may be forced to re-visit the development as we're about to start planning a new LARP ourselves, which will be the first time in 3 years. Planning a new LARP has always sent me on a coding-spree before, so chances are it'll happen this time too
